Buck Rogers in the 25th Century A.D.
John F. Dille arranged for Philip Nowlan to turn the story “Armageddon 2419 A.D.” — that originally appeared in Amazing Stories — into a comic strip for syndication. The comic strip was named Buck Rogers, the name that was used for the character from then on. Dille may have coined the nickname “Buck” based on a 1920s cowboy character named Buck Jones.
